Volunteer Spotlight

Springwater epitomizes the oft-used phrase, "It takes a village to raise a child." The degree of involvement by each volunteer in the daily operation of the school is key to the success and continued operation of Springwater itself. Volunteering also provides a very unanticipated benefit: the opportunity for people to get to know one another, each other's children and each other's families. In doing so, we create a close-knit community that shares similar hopes and dreams for their children's education. Thank you to our wonderful and dedicated volunteers.

Alex Van Pelt

Alex Van Pelt

Springwater is proud to cast a spotlight on Alex Van Pelt, an amazing volunteer who has shared her time, expertise, and leadership abilities with us ever since her family came to Springwater.

Alex is mom to Evan, a Salmon, and Emma, an Acorn. For the past two years, Alex has chaired the Fundraising
Committee and has successfully led this committee in all fundraising activities, including two annual auctions. Under her leadership, the committee has met or exceeded its fundraising goal each year, which has contributed crucial dollars to the school’s operational budget.

Prior to her position as fundraising chair, Alex ran the flow rooms program at Springwater, ensuring that there were a sufficient number and variety of options for students to choose, and taking on the daunting organizational task of getting all the flow rooms scheduled and operating every 6-8 weeks throughout the school year. Gary Skiles and Roy Cyphers

Roy Cyphers and Gary Skiles

Springwater is extremely proud to cast a spotlight on Roy Cyphers and Gary Skiles, two grandparents of Springwater students.  They are amazing volunteers who share a bit more than the common hope for their children’s future.  Some of the tasks you may catch them doing are: conducting safety walks on campus, mowing campus grounds during the summer months and assisting with lunch duties every Thursday.  Roy and Gary have worked with students in a Flow Room class and they assisted students in building beautiful flower boxes that brighten the walk ways entering the classroom portables.

Not only do Roy and Gary assist with these duties, but they do so with an infectious enthusiasm that brightens all of our days.  We appreciate their good humor and cheerful demeanor.  We are infinitely thankful!
