One of the concepts central to the vision of Springwater is a strong community, in which students, teachers, parents, and community members work and learn together.  To this end, parents are encouarged to participate in their children's education in a wide variety of ways.  Parents are always welcome in the building and specialized training is provided to help parents meaningfully contribute and work with students during reading field studies, art, and other times of the school day.

Members of the community are also welcome as volunteers and are encouraged to come share their knowledge and expertise.  We have already incorporated the unique skills of many local community members on a variety of activities and projects, including buliding a cedar shake shelter during spring break "Pioneer Camp," assisting students with a reforestation project on Metro lands, and teaching a special unit in a particular area of the environmental sciences to students in the classroom.  If you would like to inquire about volunteering at Springwater, please contact Principal Deb Odell at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or call the school at (503) 631-7700.
