shelly_small.gifShelley Gridley is one of the founding board members of Springwater. Her son Grant started first grade at Springwater in the fall of 2006. Shelley has been responsible for the site expansion and the Springwater facilities over the past 5 years. Her passion for Springwater comes from growing up in a small rural town in Oregon, the daughter of a teacher and coach. Nature and the outdoors played a major part of what bonded her family together then and now to her own family. The Gridleys enjoy gardening, camping and boating. Shelley and her husband, John, are in the residential building/remodeling and interior design business. Shelley is proud to have been a part of creating such a great school in which Grant can start these very important first years.

andrea_small.gifAndrea Hungerford and her husband Rich are busy raising three active girls, Emmersen, Isabella, and Alia. Andrea grew up in Clackamas County, earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University, and her law degree from Lewis & Clark. She practices school law in a firm that represents over 100 Oregon school districts. Much of her family’s time is spent on the 20 acres they own in Oregon City where they love to garden, swim, and explore the “deep magical forest.” Andrea believes that Springwater’s educational philosophy and pedagogy will bring together two factors crucial to learning – life sciences, a subject that young children feel a deep connection with, and hands-on learning – and that an education built on these factors will lead to a life-long love of learning for Springwater’s students.

tiffany_small.gifTiffany Nelson is a founding board member and the mother of two boys. She and her husband have lived in Oregon City for the past 17 years, and she has been teaching elementary school in the Oregon City School District for the past 15 years. Tiffany is currently teaching kindergarten at Redland Elementary. Tiffany grew up in two rural communities and she spent a lot of time outdoors exploring and taking family backpacking, camping and trips to other countries. She and her husband strive to encourage their boys to value and appreciate nature as much as they do. Tiffany is passionate about Springwater Schoolʼs vision, mission and core curriculum. Both of her children attend Springwater, and she is excited to be a member of such a wonderful close community of families, students and educators.

michael_small.gifMichael Shepherd is a founding board member and father to two springwater students. Michael serves as Director of Technology and Innovation for ProSchools – a national provider of education to adults acquiring or maintaining licensing in real estate, insurance, and closely related professions. He received a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Asian Studies from the University of Puget Sound, and enjoys running, travel, and landscaping (a.k.a. . . . moving endless piles of dirt).

brad_smaller.jpgBrad Kleiner and his wife Dawn are happy to have their 3 active girls attending Springwater.  Brad is a native Oregonian and graduated from the University of Oregon School of Journalism with a BA degree in Advertising and a minor in Spanish.  After graduation he worked in advertising in Istanbul, Turkey and later travelled internationally for a number of years and attempted to offset his travel expenses by teaching English in Mexico and Japan. Brad is currently working in Portland as the General Manager and Vice President of Lamar Transit Advertising.  The Kleiners are excited to be part of such an innovative and hands on educational program.

Genevieve Sheesley lives outside of Oregon City with her husband Chris and their two sons. They are restoring a centennial farmhouse and property. She earned her BA in English and Theater and - before kids - worked in theater and then risk management. She believes that children are more open, inspired and environmentally passionate when they have the opportunity to learn and experience life sciences in the natural world. Genevieve feels that Springwater is a vital asset to our community and she is happy to be a part of such an inspired group of people.

casey_small.jpgCasey Beatty's daughter is Stella Beatty and she is in Mr. Jons’ Dragonfly class. His wife is Carolyn Mcgill and they also have a 4 year old son Aidan. Casey grew up in Redland, went to Redland Elementary School, and Gladstone High School. He then went to Oregon State University where he majored in Sports Science. After college he got a job with PGE where he worked on the line crews for 8 years, became an apprentice lineman, climbed and worked on the overhead power lines. Wanting a change in his career, he and his wife Carolyn bought 30 acres just 5 miles south of Springwater school where Carolyn runs her business of growing lilacs from tissue culture and Casey runs a Christmas tree, blueberry, and arborvitae tree farm.
