Springwater's annual enrollment process will kick off in February with two Open House sessions at the school. Attendance at one of these meetings is required and applications will be made available only at the Open Houses. Participants will have an opportunity to meet Springwater Staff, board members and parents, learn about the school, take a tour of the building, and ask questions. Open House dates:
- Saturday, Feb 11th at 10:00 – 11:30 am
- Thursday, Feb 16th at 6:30 – 8:00 pm
Following the Open Houses, applications are due by March 2nd. All submitted applications are entered into the annual lottery. The lottery determines which kindergarten applicants will be offered admission for the following school year, and establishes wait lists at all grades.

The Springwater Preschool is a tuition based program housed on the campus of Springwater Environmental Sciences School. Although we are not part of the charter, we are a part of their community and work in collaboration with the school.
Preschool registration is opening up for the 2012-2013 school year. We offer both 2-day and 4-day options. Current Springwater families may register prior to March 9th, after which enrollment will open to the wider community.
Preschool Open House: Friday, March 9th, 10:00 - 11:30. Parents and children are invited to stop by and visit the classroom and teachers, ask questions and register for Fall 2012.

I wanted to share a letter that I recently received from the parent of a former Springwater student. The Shoemaker family joined the Springwater community in its opening year, and Sophie Shoemaker was in our oldest class until her family moved away several years ago. Sophie has now moved on to high school and her father recently wrote me as follows:
Andrea and the Springwater Board:
As this new year starts and I reflect on what is going well and etc, I’d like to give you a sincere congratulations on creating such a successful school, and thanks so much for how much you’ve helped Sophie succeed.
Creating a school from scratch is a marvelous enterprise – your success is inspirational! Sophie’s three key formative years at Springwater gave her an outstanding foundation in science and learning.
She is now in the magnet program at Camas High School, which is focused on science, math and technology. She is an independent and inspired student.
Your school had a lot to do with her success and I thank you for that!
Sincerely,
Warren Shoemaker

At the Oregon City School Board meeting on Tuesday, January 17, the Oregon City School Board gave Springwater a vote of confidence, with all six board members in attendance voting to renew our charter for the next five school years. This is the second renewal since the school opened in 2006, and extends the charter through the 2016-17 school year.
Board Member Chris Storey took a moment to compliment the impressive environmental outdoor, science based educational experiences that staff and families have created for students at Springwater. At our public hearing in December, Superintendent Larry Didway stated that he appreciates the partnership and positive working relationship with the school and that our program helps the Oregon City School Board meet its goal of expanding learning options for students.
Thank you to our Springwater board members, staff, and families who worked for many months on this charter renewal process!

Mt Hood shone brightly in the background sun for this year's annual Springwater Snow Day at Ski Bowl East. Over 250 students and parents came to zoom down the hill on innertubes, make snowmen, play, and have fun at the park, which was reserved for our exclusive use. A big thanks to Lori Skiles for making this happen! Also to Kerrie Mart who took great pictures - stay tuned for the final version of the group picture.
