2024-25 Open House Dates

February 20, 2024 @ 6:00-7:30pm

February 24, 2024 @ 9:30-11:00am

Applications are due Tuesday March 8th by 4:00pm sharp! No exceptions.

Lottery will be held during March 20th Board Meeting. Lottery numbers will not be public.

Lottery placement will be shared the 2nd week in April 2024.

Enrollment for each class is limited to no more than 24 students.

Oregon City School District residents and residents of other districts are invited to apply to Springwater. If more students apply than there are available spaces at each grade level, successful applicants will be selected by equitable lottery, with a preference given to in-district residents. Like all Oregon public schools, there is no tuition assessed, and transportation options are available to ensure access to all successful applicants.

Students who are already attending Springwater are given priority to remain admitted for the following school year.  We request parents inform the school by May 1.  In addition, siblings of current students will be admitted to any open slots prior to the lottery.

Who is eligible?

Any child who resides within the Oregon City School District boundaries is eligible. In addition, Springwater is permitted to admit out-of-district students if available spaces remain at the end of the lottery period.

Please see the Clackamas County Boundary Map to determine if you are in or out of district.

Admissions Process

The application process begins with Open House information sessions and meetings held at the school in February.  Applications will be made available online the day of the Open Houses. We encourage attendance each year at our Open Houses but due to facility space issues and limited local parking, attendance is not required.  At the Open Houses, participants will have an opportunity to meet Springwater staff, board members, and parents, learn about the school, take a tour of the building, and ask questions.

Following the Open Houses, all submitted applications are entered into the annual lottery.  The lottery determines which kindergarten applicants will be offered admission for the following school year, and establishes wait lists for all other grades.  Please note: prior year’s wait lists are not rolled over,  students must reapply.  The lottery conducted in March will establish a new wait list for the upcoming school year.  If you have missed the lottery, you may still apply and be placed on the wait list.

A notification deadline for accepted students is set for 2 weeks after notification.

Lottery

If more applications are received than there are slots available at any grade level, a lottery for that grade level will be held prior to spring break.  Students who reside outside of the Oregon City School District will be admitted after in-district residents have been assigned slots through the lottery.  Parents will be notified of the results of the lottery in writing via email in April.

Waiting List

For applications received by the deadline, position on the waiting list will be determined by the lottery process. Applicants will be notified of their position on the waiting list, and openings will be filled in numerical order from the list.  Springwater’s wait list will not roll over from year to year, but rather will be recreated after each lottery.  All applicants interested in remaining on the wait list must re-apply annually.  All applicants, including those currently on the wait list, will be lotteried equally, and a new wait list will be generated.  The new wait list will be in effect for the following school year.

The wait lists are utilized throughout the spring and summer and into the following school year to fill openings as they occur.  Wait lists are typically shorter at the mid to upper grades, and particularly at the middle school grades, which often provides an opportunity for both in-district and out-of-district students on the wait list to enroll.  Families with older students are encouraged to participate in the application and lottery process to secure a slot on the wait list, as this is the best way to obtain an offer of admission.

Springwater continues to accept applications after the annual lottery for placement on the wait list, to be drawn from once the wait list created from the lottery has been exhausted and an opening comes available.  If the lottery deadline has passed, please download the application at the top of the page and return it to the school to be placed on the wait list.
